During this difficult time, performing artists are some of the hardest hit by the fallout from COVID-19. We are all struggling, both to make ends meet while still having our musical voices be heard. Nevertheless, the creative community has responded loudly, giving us a great deal of optimism for the future.
Traditional Classical audiences are now learning how to use modern technology to experience great live music. Live streaming Classical music is certainly becoming the new normal, rather than watching a video of a previously recorded performance or listening to an audio recording.
That leads us to an explanation of Manhattan Chamber Players’ new project, MCP’s Sketchbook: Quarantine Art in the Making.
Conceived by MCP violinist Brendan Speltz and San Antonio based pianist Daniel Anastasio, MCP has commissioned eight young, talented, and internationally recognized composers to write two-minute-or-less sketches/works for members of MCP to perform in a live streaming concert broadcast via Facebook live from MCP’s Facebook page.
All proceeds from this concert will be split evenly between these eight composers.
Please tune in and support some of the brightest stars in the world of Classical composition – we hope you will join!
